Oil Boom
Short, poignant piece about the Texas oil boom.
For many years, Ector County (airport code MAF) was a favored whistle stop on my travels — Odessa, TX.
The rumor, never verified by me, was there was a plaque in the county seat, “Dear Lord, please give us another oil boom. We promise not to fuck it up this time.”
I just report what I’ve been told.
