Do not anchor or dredge

The sign reads, Do not anchor or dredge, visible from the shipping lane, along the Inter-Coastal, shouldn’t be too surprising.

I would’ve thought that I had included that already, after fishing down here for so many years.

That was a fun miserable day on the water. Set out from Rockport around 8, strong offshore breeze making an uncomfortable chop, ran up to Cedar Bayou, a cut sometimes natural, sometimes man-made, that opens up the bay to the Gulf. Tends to be good fishing, and when times are tough, like four hours in the sun, thank the odd gods for a stiff breeze, with only a couple of keepers. That’s some hard work.

At the end of the day, there was a few fish in the cooler, but my casting arm, the elbow? Sore as could be. I’ll take it. Meant I worked it.

But as my fishing buddy asked, “Why am I so peaceful on the water?” Spotty cell service? Although, at one point, I turned around to ask if they saw that, as schools of fish were migrating through, and I saw both my buddies with their heads buried in their phones.

Really guys?
