Before I got past the first page or two, the hook was set. Who among us, the set-up in the novel is an idealist burdened with debt, and wastrel younger sibling, needing assistance.
Can’t you fix your (brother/sister)!
I know, John Grisham, and I know, I probably bought the book off pallet of books, the manufacture and sales is so finely tuned, the big box retail giant (think: CostCo) has a pallet of the books delivered. Popular author, but still, if the hook is good? If the writing is taut and well-paced?
Madness in great ones must not go unwatched
Think that’s the quote.
Close, King Claudius in Hamlet, about Hamlet, 3.1, “Madness in great ones must not unwatch’d go.”
Yeah, weird one.
That one did not turn out like I thought it would, but having access to something like Google Earth and Apple Maps helped, as it flew shed out the far-flung locations I’m not personally familiar with. Helps. Fun story, as in they took some liberties, and never thought it would turn out quite like that.
The opening premise is set against a backdrop of for-profit law-schools, as in diploma mills that turn out lawyers while turning a tidy profit. More hype and less in the results category. Then it gets interesting.
