Unlimited Potential
Couple of months back, I discovered the upper limits of “unlimited” in respects to hosting accounts. I got bumped for too many MySQL queries in an hour, which isn’t too unheard of, not with multiple WordPress sites running on a single account.

It’s all in the fine print, I’m sure.

The penalty wasn’t monetary, just a throttle on the site’s performance.

To be fair, tech support offered some suggestions, tips to speed sites and reduce server loads, but that’s the same as an oil additive, suppose to make for better mileage. More snake, less oil.

The step up hasn’t been without some frustrations. I started the process with the dark moon in Pisces. Picked on purpose, hoped the process would be painless.

Odd fact, the new hosting deal? Virtual Private Server, headquarters are in Houston, most tech support was at the Austin call center, and the hardware is in Dallas.

When I shopped servers and hosts, virtual real estate is like real real estate, one rule, location, location, location.

Prices varied, but the cheap seats were cheap for reasons, and while this is all still untested, I have admiration for the previous hardware.

I’ve spent the better part of week wrangling electrons, and, as always, any broken bits, shoot me an email.

There’s also the point of trying collect all the disparate electronic pieces, and move them into one or two locations. Simplify.

As noted before, simple is harder than it seems.
