Design Note

“A Note on the Type Face”
This web page is set in a typeface called Georgia. Originally, it was considered a web-safe version of Times, which was the same family of fonts derived from the Times Newspaper, and that eventually grew into New Times Roman, but no, it’s be pretty conclusively shown that Georgia is really a derivative of a similar, but different family, dating back to the first English typesetter, Caxton.

Installed on both Mac and PC (MicroSoft-based) machines, Georgia is designed for clarity on the computer screen, appearing larger than New Times even when set at the same size. Alas, looks good on a computer’s monitor doesn’t always mean it will work in printed format.
