The other Museo Alameda piece that got to me was a series of 20 or more pictures. The top image was photos from Mexico City gangs in the middle of the 1980s. The bottom was stills from the movie, The Warriors.
Contradiction, juxtaposition, and just plain weird?
I’m unsure of the real back story, but as I followed it, the movie (1979) prompted and coalesced disparate gang elements present at the time. The local and national media caught on, and there was, I’m sure, n “epidemic,” like there always is in these situations.
About 20 frames, the top picture a stark black and white photo of 1980-era gang activity in Mexico City, and the bottom image a movie still from the film, which, supposedly, inspired the activity.
Off to Dallas for a few days. We’ll see how that works out.
