The Peripheral TV

The Peripheral

Previously, The Peripheral by William Gibson, and prior to the TV movie up and coming? Reread the classic.

“We carve history from totalities beyond our grasp. Bolt labels on the result.” Page 272.

And we do. To this day, even though this might be science fiction, it renders a palpable texture to the present.

Luke 4:5 “And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.” (The King James Version of the Bible)

Then it hits.

“Reality television. It merged with politics. Then with performance art.” Page 337.

Frightening to see as a prescient warning.

Including pop culture like the trunk monkey? Digging deep for that one.

“Opportunities to do very badly were manifold. You avoided them. The major part in any success.” Page 462.

Always solid prose.

Looking forward to the Made-for-TV movie, streaming series. Coming soon to Amazon? The book was worth rereading. Can I suggest? Haven’t seen the show yet, but the book was better?
