Kress Building and Texas de Brazil Steaks

Kress Building and Texas de Brazil Steaks
Had a coupon, expired soon. Had to go. It’s a steak place. Vegetarians should be suitably horrified. I’m guessing that Texas de Brazil is a chain, and there’s another Argentinian steak place not a hundred meters away, along the Riverwalk. Same deal, different location.

  • The interior decor borders on Spanish Bordello, with an even few weirder twists at the end: the wine ‘cellar’ is arched and glass-covered, with a flying trapeze (thing). The sommelier is usually a svelte girl doing back flips on a motorized swing. I got nauseated if I watched too long.

  • The salad bar is great, but at a set price, around $40, I tried to skip filling up on salad and bread sticks, although, I will note that the prosciutto on the salad bar was quite good. Italian ham. Special touch, the salad bar had fresh bacon, as a condiment, perched on the corner. Had to walk past it, each time.

  • The cowboys wander by with skewers of meat. While ok, the chicken and pork sausage are mere filler to some juicy, albeit messy, flank steak, and tasty enough ‘signature’ sirloin. Like the ad in the back of the in-flight magazine.

That evening, the tenderloin was best, rare. Rack of lamb, or lamb chops, bacon-wrapped filet, and several rounds of signature sirloin. The trick with that, since I like it rare, get that crusty end cut, seared surface with warm, wet and inviting pink meat. Red. Red velvet. Tastes much better than any red velvet, though.

Manager stopped and asked if we would return. Half off coupon? Sure. It’s basically underdone BBQ, works for me.
