Dream Sequence

I was with my dad, in his study, at the old place. I was looking over his shoulder at three stacks of three letters, the letter, the request and the return envelope. One was from an old school, a place I attended for a decade.

He asked about it, the donation wasn’t very much.

What I answered, truthfully, it was, academically, the best education I ever got. The sad part, I have no lasting friends from that era. None. Tangental acquaintances, stray names that pop up, but no serious and lasting friendships – at all.

Academically superior. Best educational bang for the buck. Left me a social retard, though. Intellectually advanced, socially inept and awkward. Way it goes. I suggested the donation was a good idea.
