Where’s the line? In the sand? Etched on the floor of a cathedral pointing to the whole grail?
“Separation of church and state,” right?
While I’d much prefer a “in gods we trust,” that makes most Christians spin and spin. Happened the other afternoon, too,
“I’m an Aries but we’re Christian so we don’t believe in all that.”
Oh I’m sorry – I thought forgiveness was part of the doctrine – apparently not in that dogma.. Nor the monotheistic faith alnong with it’s cannibalistic communion ritual? That was one irritating.
Can a politician make a church recommendation or endorsement? Likewise, should a church endorse a particular candidate? Wasn’t this country founded on religious freedom? More important – just thought about the word order- separation of church and state – churches, do they have a say in politics?
I’ve taken communion a half dozen times in the last year. The most uplifting? High communion at the Church of England – Westminster Abby. Short, sweet and get in the first row? No sharing the damn cup.
Methodist are always cool. Biggest bummer? Missouri Synod Lutheran church. Turns out I wasn’t supposed to take their communion since I’m not, like, an official member. Kind of dampens my enthusiasm for returning to their worship services as I’d be disinclined to acquiesce – the whole member thing. I just strive to be a good person and do no harm – whether that’s to me or someone else.
But does a church have a moral obligation to make political recommendation?
Kippers on a crutch, by those same cards, should those two democratic candidates even be on the same ballot?
