Dully noted

I need an “Oh this sucks” department. I stepped up and paid my dollars to participate in the Virtual Body Mind Soul Expo event, listed in the travel schedule. Worked with the company before – like the people – generally, like the shows, &c.

It was also more a promotional stab on my part rather than a serious effort to separate people from large sums of money. The “e-commerce” arm of astrofish.net is in charge of that.

First was fight with file formats then fight with video, then realize that my web-can won’t upload to their website: bonus! Twenty minute streaming video-blog next week. No, none of that is upsetting. None of this is really a problem, I’m sure they’ve got bigger fish with more problems and I’m ahead of the curve on some of their tech issues – I’ve been streaming video for close to a decade, in various forms. No, that’s not what got to me.

History: I worked a 900 line, back in the day, which was good, because I got paid to learn. Then, too, I was sort of picky, I wouldn’t try and keep them hanging on for hours, learned how to master the ten-minute reading. But in the beginning, I spent many long nights waiting on the phone lines to light up. That’s what this was like. Waiting, watching, seeing if there’s a tickle on the screen. Nope, just a fly, not someone in the chat room.

I was going to order pizza, but I dug around and found some crackers in the cupboard. Have to do for now.

NB: (Nota Bene – note well):
The habit (cowl) doesn’t make the monk: cucullus non facit monachum.

The dude abides.

Design note:
Above or below the fold.

What makes Kramer’s “Fishing Guide to the Stars,” astrofish.net, so special? It’s like, German engineering, look at his name. It’s homespun, look at where he’s from, it’s literate, and yet, unwashed, too. A little metal, a little punk, kind of country, maybe folk. It’s unlike any other horoscopes you’ll ever read. That much, that’s a fact.

Astrofish.net, it’s not about problem solving, it’s about solving problems.

Writing about Writing:
Dangerous, at best, but with enough of a canon available online and for free, I’m not too worried about credentials. There was a Washington Post article, long one, and around the 5th page, there was an interesting notation, most comics have a three-year life. After that, the story and gags are all about the same.

Combine that idea with the above the fold, which is where I was urged to place advertising, scroll, don’t scroll, and how to pay for it all. I have no problem dropping ads into the blog. This is free-form. Use at your own risk. The problem comes from the ever-so-much-more sought out horoscopes. The paid stuff? There is one (small) PSA. That’s about it. Trying the opposite.
